Our History
Roy McClarron founded the business in 1988 with one aim - to provide the farming and equine industries that surrounded him with bespoke insurance.
The current Principal, Sean McClarron, joined his father in 1991. Father and son worked alongside each other, steadily building the business until Roy formally handed over the reins to Sean in 1996.
At this time the McClarrons office was situated in Snainton where it blossomed into the successful brokerage it is today. Sean and his team worked tirelessly to deliver quality insurance products and exceptional customer service not only to the local community but to regions beyond Yorkshire.
As the decade drew to a close, McClarrons had developed a reputation for flawless service. The business was managing clients from all corners of the country and progressing into new areas of expertise along the way. The team continued to offer rural insurance, but after recognising the demand for commercial and personal insurance, Sean and his team decided to expand further.
In 2001 McClarrons joined Broker Network, the UK's leading network of independent insurance brokers and has never looked back since. The decision to join the Network gave McClarrons immediate access to a range of exclusive products and niche markets.
Early 2008 saw one of the most exciting developments in McClarrons' history, the acquisition of Malton-based broker Seekings and Wardle. The two businesses believed in the same standards of customer care and both teams fused seamlessly together.
Following the acquisition, McClarrons moved from Snainton into the former Seekings and Wardles' office in central Malton. The Grade II listed office, now beautifully restored, serves as a perfect base for a company which remains committed to its rural heartland.
In addition to keeping many of the existing team, McClarrons developed into further niche areas and have brought in new talent to help drive the business forward. Continual investment in technology and training has seen the business become one of the prominent independent insurance brokers in the north of England.
Even with this continued success and growth, McClarrons values and commitment to looking after the customer remain at the heart of the business – service without compromise.
