A hidden gem for marketeers: Risk Integrated Marketing

Sports risk and more specifically, team performance is a powerful marketing tool and one that, in our opinion, not enough companies take advantage of.

What is risk integrated marketing?

We can help you build a campaign that is tailored to fit an exact budget for a partner, client, team or yourself, with all financial risk managed using insurance.

This means you can run marketing campaigns offering fans high value giveaway prizes such as £1m jackpots, cars or season tickets and they be covered by insurance at only a fraction of the cost.

It is little wonder an increasing number of brands are using such strategies to gain huge PR exposure and drive sales.

The benefits of risk integrated marketing

Risk integrated campaigns, such as that outlined below, have been proven to increase footfall as well as providing a cash flow boost from both primary and secondary spend from fans. In addition, there is the possibility of generating incredible PR and a feeling of good will from fans around the associated brand and team.

Not only this, these campaigns present businesses with potential new marketing inventory and revenue-generating opportunity. For example, if you or a company you work with wish to run a campaign for fans to win a car should a certain team win a specified tournament, this campaign (and the aligned insurance policy) could be paid for by a sponsor.

Risk integrated marketing at play

A few years ago, we worked with Widnes Vikings to deliver an insured marketing campaign that packed a real punch.

PROMOTION: Buy a season ticket between 8th September and 5th November 2016 – if Widnes win 17 or more games in 2017 season, get a free season ticket for 2018!

Widnes benefitted from the campaign in a number of ways:

  1. The cost of the campaign was c.6% of season ticket price rather than the traditional 10% early bird discount offered
  2. A short promotional period drove sales and cash flow during the off-season
  3. The campaign was aligned to a sponsor, generating additional income as new marketing inventory for Widnes Vikings
  4. Provided unique promotion differentiating Widnes Vikings from other clubs.
