Protecting our communities with rural insurance
Specialist cover
McClarrons has decades of experience arranging tailored rural insurance for farms, estates, and rural enterprises. By working with leading providers of agricultural insurance, we help to ensure every policy delivers real value and reliable protection. Clients can trust that their cover is carefully sourced, competitively priced, and backed by reputable insurers with proven expertise in the rural sector.
Suitable options
Our team of rural insurance brokers, many with personal ties to the farming community, provide clear advice and arrange policies designed to safeguard traditional farms, estates, smallholders, equestrian businesses and more. With their experience and expertise, they will explain the practical benefits and help you make informed decisions about your rural insurance.
Risk management
Through our experience and partners, we can assist you in reviewing your risk management to minimise risks, losses and claims, whilst also ensuring you have the right protection in place should an incident arise. Not only this, we can make recommendations to assist you in meeting your legal obligations regarding health & safety, engineering and electrical inspections, and more.

In-house claims support
You can benefit from our dedicated claims management service, provided by our team of claims advisors. When you need it most, we will be on hand to assist you in progressing any claim, dealing with third parties, loss adjustors and insurers on your behalf, working to get you a fair outcome. This means you can focus on running your farm or business.
Ready to protect your rural business?
Independent agricultural insurance advice
Founded in 1988, McClarrons was built on the principle of providing rural and agricultural insurance tailored to the needs of the local farming community in Ryedale. During the 1990s, under the leadership of our current Executive Chairman, Sean McClarron, the business expanded both geographically and in scope. By listening to client requests we soon extended our services across the North of England.
Today, our dedicated team of rural insurance specialists continues to support farmers, landowners, estates, and rural businesses of every size. We understand the day-to-day risks you face – from extreme weather to regulatory pressures and provide independent access to a wide range of policies designed specifically for the agricultural sector. We are also not tied to any one insurer, meaning every recommendation can be made with your best interests at the fore, ensuring you have cover that is comprehensive, cost-effective, and aligned with your priorities.
Rural businesses should have protection that matches their adaptability and resilience – with McClarrons, they can.
Supporting rural communities beyond insurance
At McClarrons, we don’t just aim to be your rural and agricultural insurance brokers; we want to be a trusted partner in helping your business manage and reduce risk. Our commitment goes beyond arranging policies; we create practical resources, guides, and news to help farmers, estates, and smallholders stay informed about best practices and legal obligations.
We also host seminars and events to provide expert advice on topics ranging from health & safety compliance to seasonal risk management and emerging agricultural challenges. By combining tailored agricultural insurance with education, guidance, and proactive risk management, we help rural businesses build resilience, prevent losses, and ensure they are better prepared for challenges that come their way.
Supporting IAgSA members with specialist protection
McClarrons is proud to work in partnership with the Institute of Agricultural Secretaries and Administrators (IAgSA), providing specialist support and tailored protection for its members. We recognise the vital role agricultural secretaries and administrators play in keeping rural businesses running smoothly – from managing compliance and payroll to ensuring farms and estates can operate efficiently.
Through our partnership with IAgSA, we offer members access to tailored rural insurance and risk management resources designed with their unique responsibilities and exposures in mind. Our support extends beyond insurance cover, with guidance, seminars, and resources that help members navigate challenges such as health & safety requirements, business continuity, and evolving legislation within the agricultural sector. Please read our blog Protecting IAgSA Members: From Liability to Cyber, or watch our video to learn more about how McClarrons can support you as an IAgSA member.
Supporting Mental Health in Rural Communities
At McClarrons, we recognise that life in rural communities comes with distinct challenges. Whether you’re managing a farm, estate, or other countryside business, factors such as unpredictable weather, financial pressures, isolation, and long working hours can all impact mental wellbeing.
That’s why we’re proud to support Mental Health Support for Farmers, a video series created by Gallantium with input from clinical psychologists and members of the rural and farming community. The series offers practical guidance on identifying early signs of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as advice on maintaining positive mental health and building resilience.
By promoting this initiative, we aim to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health in rural areas and ensure that those who live and work in the countryside have access to supportive, relevant tools to look after their wellbeing alongside their business and livelihoods.
