Garry Davies takes on role of Managing Director

We are delighted to announce that longstanding team member, Garry Davies, takes on the role of Managing Director at McClarrons from 1st February 2022 in a company restructure.

Having worked at the company for the past 14 years, joining as an Office Junior from school, Garry has worked in a number of positions within the company. Within his first year, Garry started an Account Handling role in Personal Lines and soon moved into McClarrons’ Commercial Team – as an Account Handler, Garry started to build his knowledge of insurance and began working with clients. From here, he progressed to a commercial Account Executive, building his own Commercial account from scratch, as well as developing his technical capability and knowledge of the wider industry. After nearly 8 years as an Account Executive, Garry took on the role of Sales Manager in 2015, building a sales team across our core sectors – Commercial, Rural, Private Clients, and Care & Social Welfare.

As McClarrons continued to grow, the structure of the business also evolved and for the last 4 years Garry has continued to gain invaluable industry experience and expertise as Sales Director; with this, in addition to his leadership qualities and knowledge of the business, the insurance market and McClarrons’ niche sectors, he is well placed to now take on the role of Managing Director.

Garry commented: “Having been given the opportunity to work across most areas of the business as we have grown and overcome various industry challenges, I am very proud to now be taking on the role of Managing Director and look forward to leading the business into the next chapter. As an independent brokerage, we are dedicated to retaining, developing and building on our family-run foundations in order to best serve our clients for the long term.”

The company also recently welcomed a new Group Finance & Operations Director, Philippa Farthing, from The Ardonagh Group, as well as creating a new role – Head of Claims – which has been taken on by Alastair Morley, former Senior Solicitor in Hiscox’s claims team.

Our continued growth and investment in our people, their training and development, as well as the niche sectors we operate in, illustrates our continued dedication to clients.

With these changes, former Managing Director, Sean McClarron, takes on the role of Executive Chairman. Sean will continue to work closely with Garry and Philippa to map and assist us in achieving our goals and maintaining our core values.

Sean McClarron commented: “We have always strived to put the client at the heart of everything we do at McClarrons and in order to continue to facilitate the provision of quality insurance advice and support, we must evolve. Through this development and the ongoing dedication of our team, I am confident that we can continue to work in our clients’ best interests long into the future.”
