McClarrons attend this year’s East Yorkshire shows and charity events

With our roots firmly embedded in Hull since our expansion into the city during Spring 2022, we are committed to providing our insurance expertise to the Hull area. That is why we felt it was only right to join in with the events happening in and around the East Yorkshire area this year, to introduce ourselves to our local business community and see how we can be of service.

Here is where you will be able to find the McClarrons Team over the coming months:

The Business Day – Friday 7^th June

The Business Day is an annual event hosted at Bridlington Spa and aimed at business leaders across the East Yorkshire region and surrounding areas. It is an inspirational and interactive day for growing businesses to network, educate, learn and collaborate. The event also features guest speakers such as Björn Ulvaeus, founding member of ABBA, who is attending this year as the keynote speaker and will be talking about leadership, entrepreneurship, AI, technology, innovation, and much more. Along with Björn, we will also be seeing speakers Geoff Ramm – creator and author of Celebrity Service and OMG Marketing, Razan Alsous – Founder and Owner of Yorkshire Dama Cheese, and of course, Gyles Brandreth – British broadcaster, writer, former politician, and The Business Day host!

We attended for the first time last year as guests, and it hugely exceeded our expectations. The seminars and keynote speakers were impressive, along with the format of the day, making it easy to maximise your time to meet lots of people – it made the decision very easy to return as a sponsor this year and we looked forward to meeting some familiar faces along with new ones.”

Hull & East Yorkshire People in Business Awards – Friday 5^th July

Now in its 5th year, the Hull & East Yorkshire People in Business Awards (HEYPIBA) recognises, rewards and celebrates the talent of individuals within businesses in all sectors across the Hull & East Yorkshire region.

Sponsoring this event is particularly meaningful to us as we share the same attitude in recognising, rewarding and celebrating excellence. At McClarrons, we have our very own annual reward; the Roy McClarron Award, which we introduced not long after HEYPIBA was launched. That is why it made perfect sense for us to support and sponsor the awards this year; sponsorship of this event aligns perfectly with our core values and our mission. We believe that recognising excellence inspires others to strive for greatness. It encourages a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, which is essential for the sustained growth and development of business.

Driffield Show – Wednesday 17^th July

Celebrating its 148^th year as one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the county and certainly the region’s largest agricultural show, Driffield Show is hosted at Driffield Showground every year during the summer. There you can find a farming community representing livestock, crafts, horticulture, and a family fun day consisting of lots of food and drink.

For the first time, we will be having a stand at Driffield Show! Our specialist Farm Team, who are directly involved in the farming industry and have a deep understanding of the measures needed to protect rural businesses, can be found at stand C49, ready to offer insurance advice and answer any questions.

Hesslewood Classic Car Rally – Sunday 18^th August

On its 4^th year, Hesslewood Office Park are hosting their Classic Car Rally this August, in association with East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club. Every year, Hesslewood Office Park holds this display of cards and family fun day in aid of charity with every penny raised going to the chosen charity. This year’s event aims to raise funds to build an all-weather riding arena roof for North Ferriby Riding for the Disabled, a volunteer-led and self-funded local charity that provides people of all ages and disabilities an opportunity to ride their many horses and ponies, and interact with their donkeys, alpacas, chickens and sheep.

Having hosted our own car-related events in aid of charity before, such as Supercar Saturday, and multiple drive-outs throughout the years, it comes as second nature for our McClarrons Affinity Team to attend an event surrounded by classic and supercars. That is why we are proud to be supporting Hesslewood Office Park’s rally this year with our team present on the day to be of service to the general public and car enthusiasts. Plus, the event will take place a few feet outside of our Hull office in Hessle!

East Yorkshire Business Expo – Wednesday 2^nd October

Now in its 17th year, the East Yorkshire Business Expo is an opportunity for businesses to showcase themselves and network with fellow exhibitors and visitors from around the local region.

As well as getting to know us and what we at McClarrons do, visitors can find out more about other local services that will be exhibiting on the day, attend business seminars and workshops, and speed network – all at no cost to them.

Why visit us at East Yorkshire Business Expo?

At our stand, you will find Julian and Adele, from our Commercial Team, on hand to provide advice on your insurance needs and invite you to play our ‘Be a Broker for a Day’ game. ‘Be a Broker for a Day’ allows you to partake in a range of guessing games. When playing, you’ll soon be surprised by how stereotyping certain businesses and their risks may throw you off guessing the right answers.

As with games, it is always fun to create a bit of healthy competition. That is why we are giving each person who correctly answers one game a chance to be entered into our prize draw to win a magnum of Veuve Clicquot champagne. So, make sure to come and find us to play our ‘Be a Broker for a Day’ games.

As with any competition, there are terms and conditions. These are:

• Entrants may only enter once – multiple entries will not be counted.
• Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
• The competition will run on Wednesday 2nd October 2024.
• The winner of the prize draw will be selected on Friday 4th October 2024 at random.
