The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I) offers incredible support to farmers and their families across the country. On Saturday 15th October, they held their Magic of Farming Ball to raise a staggering £6,300 to help fund their vital work.
The R.A.B.I held the event at Tennants Auction Centre in Leyburn.; it was a celebratory fundraiser – part of R.A.B.I’s continued support of those in the agricultural sector.
The event saw close to 300 guests attend, who enjoyed a 4 course dinner followed by a raffle and live auction to raise money for the charity. Attendees also enjoyed dancing to music performed by Back Beat and being wowed by the various magicians performing on the night.
Sean McClarron, Managing Director at McClarrons, commented: “We have been working with rural clients for over 25 years and so are very aware of the adversity that the agricultural sector can often be faced with. The charity is very close to our hearts at McClarrons, offering help to so many working in the agricultural sector all year round and we are very proud to have been able to support the event.”
What is the R.A.B.I? And What do they do?
The R.A.B.I is a welfare charity which offers grants to those who have worked in the farming industry for over 10 years, and their dependents. Their aim is to ensure that retired farmers are able to meet payments for such things as home-help costs, phone line rentals and lifeline alarms.
Sally Conner, North East Regional Manager for R.A.B.I, said of the event: “It is really appreciated when local businesses and local people all get together to have an evening of wonderful food, at a fantastic venue and with great company to support the R.A.B.I. The Magic of Farming Ball was a huge success and I would like to acknowledge all the hard work from our dedicated committee and the financial backing we have had from so many organisations.”
In 2015, £1.9 million was paid out in grants to around 1,340 individuals and families. The R.A.B.I spend more money in North Yorkshire than any other county, making events such as this one integral to the help R.A.B.I can offer to the local community.
