Glorious sunshine and the 2017 Bedale Point to Point provided the settings for a McClarrons first – a “tweetstake” which ran in conjunction with the Grand National taking place on the same day.
Once again we returned as big screen sponsors to the event, held at the magnificent Hornby Castle for a 70th year, allowing the crowd of around 7000 to enjoy the race at Aintree alongside the six competitive steeplechase races, which attracted runners from far and wide.
While people all around the country were taking to the bookies to place their bets, those on twitter were participating in their own game of chance with McClarrons’ debut “tweetstake”, where twitter users had the opportunity to win a selection of prizes by following McClarrons’ twitter account and retweeting a pinned post.
And the winners were –
- 1st with One for Arthur – A three course Sunday lunch for two at Swinton Park, won by Amanda Sunter.
- 2nd with Cause for Causes – Afternoon tea for two at Betty’s, won by Pippa Breeze.
- 3rd with Saint Are – Vouchers for Sam Turner & Sons, won by Deborah Grogan.
Crowds enjoyed the fourth edition of the popular Hornby Challenge Ride before steeling themselves for the high-octane Grand National race broadcast live from Aintree, to Yorkshire.
The Bedale Hunt Point to Point Chairman Stephen Swiers commented, “The committee and I would like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors, whose hard work and support contributed to making the day such a great success.”
McClarrons Account Executive Jade Pringle, who specialises in farm and equine risks, was there as a resigned point to point jockey, enjoying the day for the first time as part of the McClarrons team,
“It’s very different being on this side of the fence at the Bedale Point to Point, but it was a brilliant atmosphere, thanks in no small part to the sunshine and the buzz brought from Aintree, courtesy of our big screen! Well done to all our competition winners.”
